“Lawrence Tam is the best. If you have the misfortune to need a root canal, get it done right and go to this guy. He was courteous, honest and skilled. Apparently mine was a complicated case. The thrill he got from solving the riddle of my root structure told me that he takes his work seriously and that he enjoys it. I dig that. “If there were a few more stars here, I would have given Dr. Tam 11 out of possible 5. So, He treated me in July 2016. I had a #14 tooth infection which no other endodontist would want to touch. I went to 4 other doctors because I didn’t want to pay 50% of the amount, since Dr. Tam was out of my network. However, none of the others wanted to do it, because I had a sinus infection in that area at the time which compounded everything. Some were just outright rude.
Nevertheless, I decided that I would go to Dr. Tam immediately after the first visit with him. He was so welcoming, laughing, reassuring and very specific as to what he will do. He recognized that it was a very difficult job, but he said that he’ll do it. I went to him 5 more times during that period of June-July 2016. I am no expert, but I became an expert because he was describing everything he was doing while he was working on my tooth. That is the coolest thing for those who are curious to know and are fed up with dentists who do not talk and keep you in dark as to what’s happening. After he finished the root canal and the surgery successfully, he said that he would want to do a follow-up in March 2017. Meanwhile, I moved to Virginia in January but I took the trip to NY for the follow-up. I just finished the follow up and I am writing now instead of last year. The follow up went well, and he said that everything has gone well, considering the severe issue I had last year.
Knowing what I know now, I wouldn’t have wasted time to go to any other doctor so that I can save a few hundred dollars. I would have paid the whole thing myself, because Dr. Tam is worth every penny. I mean it — so if you’re thinking about saving something, don’t! You’ll thank him later. I was very happy with his service and recommend him to anyone. He’s your endodontist! The staff is also great, especially Betsy!”

“10 stars for Dr. Tam. He did a total of 5 root canals for me over a period of about 4 months. He is incredibly thorough, he explained everything in detail and continued to answer questions, in detail, as they came up over the period I was seeing him. My case was a difficult one - there wasn’t much about what I needed that was very straightforward, but he is highly skilled and he knows what he’s doing. He is a perfectionist. There wasn’t any pain during the procedures (except for a few tiny needle pricks for the anesthesia - very minor!), and there was very little discomfort afterwards. Dr. Tam is amazing, his assistant is also very highly skilled. I recommend Dr. Tam to anyone who needs a root canal, and to anyone who is fearful about going to the dentist.”
